2017 Mazda6: Redefining Design Again
September 20 2016,
For 2017, Mazda’s upped the ante with interior improvements to the 6 that only serve to increase the car’s overall appeal. As it stands, the 2017 Mazda6 remains one of the most practical, versatile and fun-to-drive vehicles in its segment.
New Bells & Whistles, Same Great Mazda6
Despite its 2014 redesign, the current-gen Mazda6’s KODO design still gets all the looks and attention in the segment, and it’s well deserved. Its exterior looks alone put it miles ahead of the nearest competition. There’s a reason the KODO design is seen across Mazda’s entire family lineup: sleek, modern and sexy, these cars carry a silhouette that’s instantly recognizable and oh-so appealing. The 2017 Mazda6’s front end is definitely one of the industry’s most attractive, with its striking angular nose and slanted headlights alluding to Mazda’s sporty nature.
For 2017, a Premium Package that includes Nappa leather, detailed stitching on the steering wheel and available amenities such as a heated steering wheel and optional Colour Active Driving Display (ADD) that displays vital driver information directly in your line of vision on a display in the windshield is now available on the Mazda6.
Also featured in the 2017 Mazda6 is the Japanese automaker’s latest HMI system with a 7” colour touchscreen display. The main control knob can be found just below the shifter, which makes navigation and audio browsing easier than ever before. Satellite radio is available, as well as HD radio. There are also two USB ports to ensure you (and your passengers) are tuned in to the right music and entertainment for the entire journey. The available 11-speaker premium Bose audio system is sure to keep the party going, as well.
A New Suite of Safety Features Keeps You Safe on the Road
Just as in the previous generation, the 2017 Mazda6 features the versatile SKYACTIV-G 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. With three transmission choices (6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed automatic with i-ELOOP energy regen capabilities), the 2017 Mazda6 really is the ideal midsize sedan.
The 2017 Mazda6 also features a host of safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward obstruction warning, and a high beam control system. Mazda’s latest safety feature, Smart City Brake Support, which prevents a front collision by gently applying the brakes for you should you approach a stopped vehicle unknowingly, is also available.
